在 費 城 的 一 個 嚴 重 火 車 出 軌 意 外 中 ， 在 費 城 的 大 學 當 護 衛 員 的 David Dunn ( Bruce Willis 飾 ) 是 唯 一 的 生 還 者 。 他 不 但 生 還 ， 而 且 一 點 傷 也 沒 有 。 Elijah Price ( Samuel L. Jackson 飾 ) 從 小 便 患 上 骨 骼 脆 弱 症 ， 令 他 經 歷 了 55 次 骨 折 。 他 小 時 ， 他 的 同 學 都 叫 他 做 " 玻 璃 先 生 " 。 他 對 漫 畫 很 著 迷 ， 皆 因 他 母 親 用 漫 畫 來 哄 他 到 屋 外 走 動 。 他 相 信 世 上 有 人 與 他 的 體 質 剛 好 相 反 ， 而 且 可 以 成 為 像 漫 畫 中 的 英 雄 。 他 相 信 David 就 是 這 個 人 。 David 後 來 亦 相 信 他 有 超 乎 常 人 的 能 力 ， 並 穿 著 護 衛 員 服 裝 拯 救 了 受 害 的 家 庭 。 最 後 ， David 發 覺 Elijah 與 他 相 像 的 完 全 是 另 一 個 人 ……

這 齣 電 影 很 多 的 製 作 人 員 都 有 參 與 《 鬼 眼 》 的 製 作 。 很 多 美 國 的 影 評 人 都 將 這 兩 套 戲 比 較 。 兩 部 電 影 固 然 有 很 多 相 似 的 地 方 ， 例 如 兩 套 片 都 用 比 較 少 配 樂 以 及 兩 套 片 都 給 觀 眾 意 外 的 結 局 。 其 實 兩 齣 電 影 都 是 由 M. Night Shyamalan 主 理 。 但 始 終 兩 套 戲 並 無 關 係 ， 筆 者 認 為 這 樣 的 比 較 並 無 必 要 。

故 事 描 寫 了 一 個 英 雄 的 誕 生 。 Shyamalan 其 實 可 以 用 另 外 一 種 手 法 處 理 ， 例 如 令 到 節 奏 較 緊 湊 或 是 製 造 更 多 拯 救 危 難 的 情 節 。 但 他 創 造 的 英 雄 則 沒 有 這 樣 的 精 彩 經 歷 。 David 只 有 感 到 迷 茫 ， 而 觀 眾 並 不 感 到 David 為 成 為 風 雲 人 物 而 感 到 興 奮 。 並 非 每 個 英 雄 都 像 超 人 或 蝙 蝠 俠 認 為 救 人 是 一 種 光 榮 ： 他 只 覺 得 不 用 內 咎 。

看 到 這 齣 戲 的 末 段 ， 觀 眾 才 可 發 覺 它 亦 講 及 到 邪 惡 的 目 的 ， 以 及 正 與 邪 的 微 妙 關 係 。 甚 麼 引 起 邪 惡 呢 ？ 童 年 陰 影 嗎 ？ 而 在 這 套 戲 所 提 到 的 ， 為 找 尋 " 正 " 的 固 執 而 想 歪 了 的 可 是 嗎 ？ 固 然 ， 人 往 往 被 自 己 的 信 念 蒙 蔽 而 作 出 令 人 髮 指 的 事 情 。 Shyamalan 再 一 次 給 了 觀 眾 一 個 驚 人 的 結 局 ， 但 這 一 次 則 有 些 哲 學 問 題 給 觀 眾 思 量 。

卡 士 方 面 ， 有 誰 不 認 識 Bruce Willis 及 Samuel L. Jackson ？ 另 外 ， 《 阿 甘 正 傳 》 的 Jenny 亦 有 參 與 演 出 。 Robin Wright Penn 今 次 所 做 的 是 David 的 太 太 Audrey Dunn 。 當 David 兒 子 Joseph Dunn 的 Spencer Treat Clark 有 點 似 《 鬼 眼 》 的 Haley Joel Osment ， 在 戲 內 表 現 得 很 不 錯 。 Shyamalan 再 一 次 找 到 一 位 甚 具 潛 質 的 童 星 為 他 演 出 。

儘 管 有 些 美 國 的 影 評 人 給 《 不 死 劫 》 的 評 分 不 甚 好 ， 但 筆 者 覺 得 這 齣 戲 對 一 般 的 觀 眾 來 說 已 算 是 相 當 不 錯 。 筆 者 相 信 應 該 是 各 位 影 迷 在 今 個 聖 誕 假 期 不 容 錯 過 的 電 影 。

In a severe train derail accident in Philadelphia, David Dunn (Bruce Willis), a security guard working in a university there, was the only survivor in the train wreck. No only was he alive, he was completely unharmed. Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson) had been suffering from a bone disease (osteogenesis imperfecta) that had caused him 55 bone fracture incidents. When he was a kid, his classmates called him Mr. Glass. He was very into comic books when he was young because his mother used them as an incentive to have him go out to the open, where he was so afraid to have his bones broken. He believed, since his bones were so fragile, there must be somebody in the other end of the continuum who has strong bones who can be a hero, like the heroes in the comic books. He believed David was the person. David later believed he had the supernatural power, and he went out to save a family in a security guard cape, like a new hero. Eventually, he found out Elijah was a very different person that what he first thought Elijah was...

This film is made by the crew consisting a lot of the crewmembers of "The Sixth Sense". Many critics in the US compared the two films. There are some similarities in the films. For example, both films use very little music and both films give audience a surprising finale. Not surprising as both films are made by M. Night Shyamalan. However, I believe "Unbreakable" should be judged at its own right. It is not a sequel to The Sixth Sense.

The story depicts the birth of a hero. Shyamalan could have handled the film completely differently. He could have made it an intense and fast paced one, and create scenes after scenes of the hero security guard saving the world. He did not. Instead, he did not portray being a hero a very exciting experience. David was confused, and the audience did not feel David being enthusiastic in becoming the talk of the town. Not all heroes feel proud to save lives like Batman or Superman: he only avoids his regrets.

Until the end of the film, you will not know that it is also about the purpose of the evil, and the intriguing relationship between the good and the evil. What make a person evil? Childhood experience? And in the film, is it the determination for the search of the good that makes a person evil? Of course, many people are blinded by their own determination and did something that we all cannot imagine. Again, Shyamalan surprises the audience with a shocking finale. But this time, there are some philosophical questions that the audience may want to think about.

The cast is great. Who doesn't know Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson? But do you know that the Jenny of "Forrest Gump" is also in the film? Robin Wright Penn this time is Audrey Dunn. Spencer Treat Clark, who looks a bit like Haley Joel Osment in "The Sixth Sense", did very well. Again, Shyamalan has found a terrific kid to star in his film.

Although some critics in US gave the film not a very good score, I think that most people would fnd the films a pretty interesting one. I believe this film should be one of the films that film lovers here should watch during this Christmas.
