Tiffany (Rachel Blanchard) and Josh (Breckin Meyer) grew up together and they vowed to be together after finishing college. Tiffany went to University of Austin in Texas and Josh went to Ithaca College in New York State, 1800 miles between them. Not long after did they realize that they have a lot of choices, to make friend and be with others. Josh was about to send Tiffany a video tape to tell her how much he missed her after a few days without talking on the phone. The next day, after winning the auction to date Beth (Amy Smart), Josh was taped by Beth while having sex with her. Josh's buddies mixed up the two tapes and mailed the sex tape to Tiffany instead of the "miss-you" tape. Josh, having no money to buy an air ticket, borrowed Kyle (DJ Qualls)'s car to go to Austin to try to get back the tape. Beth, after knowing about Josh's trip, headed to chase after him, but to the wrong city. Both journeys were not so smooth...
The film is a very entertaining film. Sex is the major vehicle of the jokes, but the film is not overdone with sex. The Chinese name of the film can be translated as "Pronographic Tour", but apart from a few nude scenes, the film is not pornographic, even dirty jokes are all around the places. Compared to Hong Kong made films which always emphasize nudity if any nudity is involved, this film handles "dirtiness" very well.
Some of the cast are quite famous in the US. For example, Breckin Meyer (Josh) starred in the film "Clueless". Tom Green (Barry) has a show on MTV. Rachel Blanchard (Tiffany) is the star in the TV series "Clueless" (not the same as Meyer's "Clueless"). Their acting is very good for their age, and some of their faces are really funny which make the film even funnier. On the other hand, the production of the film is average. I am particularly not impressed when Barry (Tom Green) was talking by the lake and an overhead microphone was seen in the screen. Clearly it is a low budget film. However, please note that does not imply it is not good.
This film brings out a few jokes about cheating that sound ridiculous: It is not cheating if you are in a different area code; It is not cheating if you cannot remember it; It is not cheating if you are in relationships with two at the same time because one cheating cancels another. The ridicule brings out the message that cheating is cheating and there is no excuse, if you really think about what those jokes can mean. The film also suggests the difficulty of keeping a relationship when the two parties cannot see each other often. People change constantly. If two lovers are separated geographically, they have difficulty in adjusting themselves for each other, and a lot of things just will not work out. In this film, Tiffany and Josh declared a break up without tears. They were emotionally detached after a short period of separation. And this happens to a lot of people in real life.
On the whole, this film is a very entertaining one. When I saw the preview show, the laugh just did not stop in the theater. May I suggest you consider seriously to watch this film.
