This film is based on a true story. Patch Adams wanted to improve people's quality of life through being a doctor, especially for those people who could not afford medical insurance. His view about the doctor-patient relationship was different than the mainstream view: Doctors should cure the patients with some humor and the relationship should be closer than a professional/indifferent relationship. He struggled a lot with the Dean because of his view and behavior. Despite all the difficulties, he graduated and became a doctor. In spite of being a true story, the producers managed to tell the story in an interesting way.

Robin Williams is unquestionably one of the best comedian actors in Hollywood. In this film, there are a great many chances for him to show his talents. Monica Potter is so adorable. It almost made me cry when the bad news about her comes in the film (You watch it and you will know what I mean).

Unfortunately, the set comes in an envelope. Anyway, the package looks fine. One good thing is that the video is in widescreen.

Like other CIC VCD's, this VCD set has good quality picture.
