Imhotep, Pharoah's priest, was in love with Anck-Su-Namun, Pharoah's mistress, and the affair was discovered. As a result, Anck killed herself and Imhotep murdered Pharoah. Imhotep tried to resurrect Anck. However, the act was stopped by the palace and he was given the penalty of "hungdai", in which he was mummified alive with bugs eating his flesh in his coffin. 3000 years later, because of curiosity, Evelyn resurrected Imhotep by mistake, and 10 plagues then came to Egypt. Evelyn tried eveything to reverse the mistake...

Sound interesting, isn't it? I assure you that the film is intense from the start.

There are no big names in the cast. Brendon Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah... Not the most well known names in Hollywood. But don't get me wrong, these are good actors.

In this film, you can see a lot of visual effects. In general, they are well made. The filmmaker rebuilt the ancient Cairo that looked so real. You will be stunned by the incomplete body of Imhotep and walking mummies. In one or two cases, there is some imperfection, like when Benny was first talking to Imhotep, his eyes were supposed to be looking at Imhotep's but I saw that he was not. Actually, at the set, there was no mummies walking around. It is understandable for the actor but the visual effect people should have done something.

A lot CIC's VCD's come only in envelopes. This one, up till this minute, is only available in gold disks and jewel boxes. The package says it is the collectible version, but I don't see a better quality in the picture quality than other CIC's VCD's. There are better things than the CIC's enveloped VCD's in that the printing on the disks is much nicer, and of course they come in a jewel box, which I like. The picture is widescreen, which is another good thing about it.

CIC VCD's has quite good picture quality for VCD's. This one is no exception.

It is a very entertaining film, entertaining from the beginning to the end. I watched this film in the theater and I still want to buy its VCD's and watch it again. I think I will watch it again later. You might feel the same.
