Comet Wolf-Beiderman was discovered to hit the Earth. US and Russia sent a Space Shuttler but could not deflect the path of the comet, only managed to split the comet into 2. The Earth was facing doomsday and the crew in the Space Shuttler had their final trial to stop the collision.

The story is not a complicated one, but the producers managed to make it a very entertaining film. The film shows a few instances of people sacrificing their chance to live for something they thought larger than life. It might seem to be unreal at first as we might expect everybody wants to live despite the rest of the world is going to die. But if all the people around you are not going to live, what is the value of staying alive?

良 Good

Te'a Leoni (wife of David Duchovny of X-Files and main character of the sitcom The Naked Truth) first acted on the big screen. Not a perfect one but it certainly shows her potential. Morgan Freeman, the president, did well but could have done better. Bill Clinton could be a better actor for this role than Freeman. It is not very convincing, by the way, to see an African American to be the president. As a matter of fact, I don't see that the American would elect a black president in the next 20 years.

This film is shown widescreen, which is good. The set comes with an envelope which is not the best thing: less protection and difficult to store and find.

Again, it is a CIC's VCD set and that is some guarantee of good picture quality (for VCD's).

Although some friends say it is not a good film, I think it is a good film. Perhaps they don't see how good the film portrays the reaction of the people to the coming of doomsday. Watch the film and think about what you will do when doomsday comes... Thumb up for this film!
