由「香港第一發行有限公司」榮譽發行的蜚聲國際猛片《天堂邊緣》(Edge of Heaven)，是「柏林影展」金熊獎得主費迪夫艾堅導演新作，全片借一對父子及兩對母女組合，道盡六人命運間生死交匯，從而發展段段精彩感人故事，情節高潮迭起，銜接精準地環環相扣。此片一出即引來全球讚頌，更在多個影展中連環奪獎，當中包括「康城影展」及「歐洲電影大獎」最佳劇本，甚至代表德國角逐來屆「奧斯卡金像」最佳外語片，絕對非同凡響。《天堂邊緣》將於2008年1月24日（星期四）在香港盛大公映。

《天堂邊緣》為費迪夫艾堅導演的「愛、死亡、魔鬼」生命三部曲之二，他擅長探索生命起落與交錯，詮釋寬容與諒解的精彩人生；最重要的是，費迪夫艾堅今次進一步將人生比喻為鏡子兩面，透過這兩面的交叉點，以詮釋生命與死亡。故事發生於德國的繁華鬧市裡，土耳其僑民阿里獨居多年，生活寂寞空虛，惟他結識了妓女嘉特後如沐春風，很快地阿里便邀請嘉特同住相伴，卻因而惹起在大學教授德國文學的兒子奈雅不滿。奈雅對嘉特的反感相當主觀，但當他發現對方原來是個好母親時，態度也有所改變。

一切還未雨過天青，阿里突然意外去世，奈雅深感自責，決定前往土耳其尋找嘉特的女兒阿伊丹探個究竟。那邊廂阿伊丹卻為躲避土耳其政府追捕，毅然來到德國尋找母親，路上他碰見年紀相若的洛特，彼此一見鐘情，可惜阿伊丹最終躲不過追捕而被遣送回國。洛特苦苦尋覓阿伊丹的蹤影，途中被意外槍殺，洛特的母親蘇珊傷心不已，也踏上了土耳其的不歸路，並結識了正在尋找人生方向的奈雅......

費迪夫艾堅透過《天堂邊緣》中的劇本，顯現他對小人物關注，皆因戲裡角色往往來自中下階層，反映出新一代住在德國的土耳其移民真實想法。這些移民來到當地工作後，生活顛沛流離，所生育的下一代往往因為能夠接受到較好教育，而晉身為中產階級，自此便與自己的父母輩疏離繼而陌生。《天堂邊緣》正要探討這個全球關注的社會問題。

Introduction:

German born Turkish Fatih Akin, writer & director of EDGE OF HEAVEN has won BEST SCRIPT at both Cannes Film Festival & European Film Awards. The film is also representing Germany for BEST FOREIGN FILM in Oscar this year. Also, Fatih Akin had previously received a Golden Bear award at Berlin in 2004 with his previous film "Head On".

Synopsis :

Nejat seems disapproving about his widower father Ali's choice of prostitute Yeter for a live-in girlfriend. But he grows fond of her when he discovers she sends money home to Turkey for her daughter's university studies. Yeter's sudden death distances father and son. Nejat travels to Istanbul to search for Yeter's daughter Ayten. Political activist Ayten has fled the Turkish police and is already in Germany. She is befriended by a young woman, Lotte, who invites rebellious Ayten to stay in her home, a gesture not particularly pleasing to her conservative mother Susanne. When Ayten is arrested and her asylum plea is denied, she is deported and imprisoned in Turkey. Lotte travels to Turkey, where she gets caught up in the seemingly hopeless situation of freeing Ayten...
