故事大綱
著名指揮家丹尼．戴勒斯(米高列維治飾演)正處於事業的巔峰，名字享譽音樂界。雖然如此，仍掩蓋不了他的寂寞和對生活的無力感，加上童年時曾被同僚欺負的陰影及年少時母親的離去一直纏繞著他，丹尼一直尋求自我釋放的空間。身體狀況愈來愈差的丹尼更被醫生診斷其心臟功能差不多盡失，於是，丹尼決定獨自返回童年時的出生地生活 -- 瑞典北部小鎮諾爾蘭(Norrland)。丹尼買了一所空置破舊的學校，期望從此過著平靜簡單的生活。丹尼希望在此能創作出開啟心靈的音樂，由於他把自己的姓氏改了，起初沒有村民知道他正是這裡的舊居民。當村民得悉他正是著名的指揮家後，旋即邀請他出任這小鎮教堂的合唱團指揮。縱使丹尼十分抗拒再成眾人的焦點，他卻無法婉拒村民誠意的邀請，終於他決定為他們重拾指揮棒。
再次擔任指揮家的過程及村民對音樂的熱誠令丹尼重拾對音樂久遺了的興趣。但對這個看似平靜的小鎮而言，丹尼的到臨卻是個威脅。丹尼發現快樂背後，他不知不覺間已圍繞著不少敵人：嫉妒的牧師、有嚴重暴力傾向的丈夫…同時，他認識到可愛但多疑的蓮娜(芙烈達荷格飾演)，蓮娜的出現令丹尼克服了恐懼的心理障礙，重拾自信。同時，合唱團經丹尼的指導後，水準漸漸提高，並被奧地利顯赫的音樂比賽取錄作公開演出。丹尼及這個小鎮居民的生活從此變得不一樣…
史上最成功瑞典電影之一•榮獲2005年奧斯卡「最佳外語片」提名
《生命的飲歌》堪稱瑞典電影的經典。自電影於2004年9月於瑞典上映以來，好評如潮，除連續上映兩個月外，總入場人次突破一百二十萬，為近年瑞典電影界票房第三高的電影。不但本土票房凌厲，《生命的飲歌》更衝出瑞典，獲2005年奧斯卡「最佳外語片」提名，風頭一時無倆。
導演基保勒18年來首部作品
本片為年屆67歲導演基保勒自1986年前作《Love Me!》後的作品，相隔18年後再次執導電影即為他帶來國內外的高度評價。《Love Me!》於當年同樣載譽影壇，並曾參與柏林影展的競賽部份。就在此片於瑞典首映當夜，瑞典發生了一件全民震驚的事 - 瑞典總理奧洛夫•帕爾馬(Olof Palme)觀賞《Love Me!》後隨即被暗殺。這次事件直接影響基保勒的人生觀，自此以後，他放下導演筒，遊走於瑞典並到各地開辦有關個人成長的討論會。
真正引發基保勒再拍電影的原因卻是受他的妻子影響，他的妻子是合唱團的成員，在陪伴妻子練習的過程中，基保勒亦漸漸發掘到音樂人性化的一面。同時，瑞典全國每星期有70萬人參與合唱團的演出，是瑞典國內最大型的文化活動之一。基保勒受它吸引，並開始研究這種活動，他找來國內最顯赫的合唱團領袖作研究，並埋手劇本的創作。監製安達臣巴克蘭甚至看過劇本後更二話不說隨即答應參與這次令人引頸以待的作品。
取景地點於瑞典北部小鎮
從一開始，基保勒已知道瑞典北部是這次拍攝的理想地點。基保勒希望在片中能表現出冬天和夏天氣侯的強烈對比，瑞典北部城鎮諾爾蘭(Norrland)正符合上述的條件，夏天溫暖而美麗的陽光、冬天惡劣天氣裡的飄雪…事實上，本片的美術指導蒙羅科臣只需找來兩個室內場景，包括一間破舊的學校及片中合唱團練習的小教堂，其餘美麗的外景已可在這個小鎮輕易找到。
米高列維治飾演丹尼．戴勒斯
現年45歲的米高列維治是當今瑞典影壇最重要的演員之一，名字於瑞典無人不曉。近年的電影作品包括《Breaking Out》、《Together》及《The Guy in the Grave Next Door》等，其中更憑2002年的《The Guy in the Grave Next Door》榮獲Guldbagge大獎最佳男主角，演技備受肯定。
除電影外，米高列維治亦是一位舞台劇演員，他更是瑞典國家戲劇組織的永遠榮譽會員，成就無容置疑。
芙烈達荷格飾演蓮娜
自14歲已開始演出短片《Klassliv》的芙烈達荷格從小已對演戲有濃烈興趣，並主修戲劇。於1998年獲取首個戲劇學位後，隨即於斯德哥爾摩劇場工作，並參演不少戲劇的演出，包括《Elektra》及《Amadeus》等著名戲劇。
拍攝《生命的飲歌》之前，芙烈達荷格曾主演的電影作品包括《30:e November》、《Once in a Lifetime》及《If Not》，其中更憑1995年的《30:e November》榮獲Guldbagge大獎最佳女配角提名。
導演基保勒
年屆67歲的基保勒早於1976年已拍攝首部長片《Elvis! Elvis!》。在此之前，基保勒主要?演電視的工作，並炮製出著名電視系列《Den Hemlighetsfulla Verkligheten》。1980年，基保勒憑第二部電影作品《Children's Land》榮獲Guldbagge最佳導演獎。除《Children's Land》外，基保勒更憑第三部作品《Love Me!》榮獲柏林影展金熊獎提名。雖然基保勒平生拍片量不多，《生命的飲歌》亦只是其第四部作品，但其屢次獲獎的往績已可見其作品的成就備受肯定。
自《Love Me!》後，基保勒暫且放棄執導電影，並遊走於瑞典國內不同的地方開授關於個人成長的討論會，甚至撰寫有關的著作。《生命的飲歌》是他18年來回歸影壇之作，電影甫推出即成為近年瑞典電影界的經典，並榮獲2005年奧斯卡「最佳外語片」提名，再次把基保勒的成就推向高峰。

Daniel Dareus is a successful international conductor at the top of his game, but he is lonely, miserable and exhausted by the demands of his high profile life style. After suffering a physical and emotional breakdown, Daniel abruptly interrupts his career and returns, alone, to Norrland, the village of his childhood located in a remote part of northern Sweden. Immediately upon his arrival his fame makes him the object of curiosity, fascination and suspicion. Soon he is asked to come and "offer a bit of good advice" to the small church choir, which practices every Thursday in the parish hall. Daniel resists being dragged back into the spotlight, yet he finds that there is no way he can gracefully refuse the choir's request, and reluctantly he agrees to help. As he begins to work with the choir, Daniel, quite to his own surprise, begins to rediscover his long-lost joy for music. But his work with the choir is a serious threat to the town's status quo, and Daniel finds himself surrounded by enemies, including the jealous parish priest and a dangerous and violent enemy from his past. At the same time he makes new friends, among them the lovely and sensitive Lena, a woman who helps him overcome his fear and loneliness. Daniel's life, and the lives of the people of Norrland, will never be the same.
ABOUT THE FILM
As it is in Heaven marks both an overwhelmingly successful come-back story and one of the greatest successes in Swedish film history. Since its domestic release, the film has grossed more than 1,200,000 admissions, making it Sweden's third biggest box office-hit in recent times.
With rave reviews both domestically and internationally, the film is a triumph for 66-year-old writer/director Kay Pollak - especially as this is his first film in 18 years.
Pollak's last film, Love Me! (1986), screened In Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival. On the night the film opened in Sweden, the country's Prime Minister, Olof Palme, was shockingly murdered in Stockholm. The murder traumatised Sweden, and for Pollak triggered a decision to turn his back on filmmaking. For almost 18 years, he made his living touring the country, holding popular lectures and hosting seminars on the subject of personal development.
But Pollak had a lot of interests, and his desire to explore them on film never diminished. It was his wife who gave him the idea for As it is in Heaven. Pollak says,
"She sang in a choir and I used to go to pick her up. I listened to the choir and studied it, and I gradually realized what a metaphor for humanity a choir is. I did not know then that this is the largest cultural movement in Sweden-that close to 700,000 people take part in choir-practice every week."
As this interest developed, Pollak started to study this folk movement more closely. He spoke at length with choir-leaders and gradually a script started to evolve.
When the script was ready, he presented it to producers Anders Birkeland and Goran Lindstrom, who sent the script to Peter Possne at Sonet Film. Possne says, "I got the script on a Friday afternoon, and on Saturday morning I called and said 'I’m in'. I have never made such a decision as fast before-the script was so good."
For Pollak, this dramatic story could only be set in the far north of Sweden. "I wanted to be able to use the contrasts between the summer, with its special light-and the winter, with its harsh weather and snow-storms."
The film's art director, Mona Theresia Forsen toured the north of Sweden, scouting for locations. She found several perfect settings, which meant only two interiors had to built. These were the old school-house, and the church where the choir practises. The rest were already there.
When it came to casting, Pollak had already pictured Michael Nyqvist and Frida Hallgren as the two leads. Hallgren is a relative newcomer with only a handful of film-roles on her resume. Nyqvist is more experienced, and has become one of Sweden’s most popular actors. Pollak says, "We have known each other for close to 20 years, and during the process of thinking of As it is in Heaven, I gradually got the answer to my question 'is it him?'"
The shoot was long, and, according to rumours, sometimes turbulent. Editing took place in the spring and summer of 2004, with editor Tomas Tang, of whom Pollak speaks very highly. He says, "I'm grateful God sent him in my way. That man is a genius."
The film opened in Sweden in September 2004. Aided by positive reviews, it became an instant box office smash hit, shooting straight to the top spot in the cinema charts where it stayed for two months. Already a well-know name in Sweden, the film added to Nyqvist's popularity, but following her appearance in As It Is in Heaven, Hallgren has been elevated to star status, and has been crowned one of 2005's Shooting Stars at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The film is also a natural contender as Sweden's entry for Best Foreign Film for the 2005 Academy AwardsR.
As for Pollak-this has triggered him to direct once again. We can only hope that this time it will not take eighteen years to get a new project off the ground.

KAY POLLAK
Born in 1938, Kay Pollak began his filmmaking career in 1976 with Elvis! Elvis! Prior to this he had worked predominantly in TV, where he made, amongst other things, the successful Swedish TV series Den Hemlighetsfulla Verkligheten. In 1980 he was awarded the Guldbagge for Best Director for the film Children's Island, and both Children's Island and Love Me! (1986) were nominated for Golden Bear Awards at the Berlin International Film Festival. Following Love Me!, Kay spent his time writing books and lecturing on personal development. As it is in Heaven marks Pollak's return to cinema with his first feature film for 18 years.

MICHAEL NYQVIST

Born in 1960, Michael Nyqvist is one of Sweden's leading actors. Making his mark in Lars Norens Personkrets 1:3, he has since worked in a list of cinema successes like Breaking Out, Together and Slim Susie, and in 2002 he was awarded the Guldbagge for Best Male Lead for his work in The Guy In the Grave Next Door. Alongside his work in cinema, Michael is also a keen stage actor. He is a permanent member of Sweden's Royal Theatre Group, and alongside his many film and television credits, he has a long list of theatrical roles to add to his C.V.

FRIDA HALLGREN
(Lena)
Born in 1974, Frida made her debut at the age of 14 in the short film serial, Klassliv, in SVT's youth programme. After studying drama at school, she continued her education at the Theatre Academy, Malmo and following this carried out an apprenticeship at the Gothenburg City Theatre. After completing her degree in 1998, she's worked in both the Uppsala and Stockholm City Theatres and performed in Elektra and Amadeus, amongst many others. In 1995 she was nominated for a Guldbagge for Best Female Support in Daniel Fridell's 30:e November, and in 2004, as well as making As It Is In Heaven, she has worked in Kjell Sundvall's new film, Vinnare och Forlorare, and Lars Lennart Forsberg's, Storst av Allt.

HELEN SJOHOLM
(Gabriella)
Born 1970, Helen was a successful singer and musical performer before making her film debut in Rickard Hobert's Where The Rainbow Ends (1999). Her musical career began in 1995 as Kristina in Benny Andersson's and Bjorn Ulvaeus' musical, Kristina from Duvemala, and since then she has worked in a series of popular musicals including Chess and Les Miserables. She made her debut as a solo artist in 2002 with Visor, a platinum selling single in Sweden, and throughout her career her talent has been awarded with awards such as the Thalia statuette and the Ulla Billquist scholarship. As It Is In Heaven is Helen's second feature film.

LENNART JAHKEL

Born 1956, Lennart Jahkel is one of Sweden's best loved actors, known for his direct and racy interpretations in both theatre and film. He entered drama school in Malmo in 1979, and following his degree, acted in productions in the City Theatres of Helsingborg, Norrbotten and Norrkoping. His TV career took off when he played the happily married father, Kent, in popular Swedish show Goda Grannar, and he has been equally successful in his film roles which have earned him a Guldbagge Award for Best Male Support in The Hunters and a nomination for the Best Male Support in Suxxess. He's just finished recording Sex, Hopp och Karlek, Lisa Ohlin's new film.

STEFAN NILSSON
As a composer and pianist, Stefan Nilsson has more than 25 years experience in the music business, and has worked in a wide selections of musical styles, which range from rock tours in the '70s to Jaques Brel interpretation in the '80s to his collaboration with Elvis Costello and Ann Sofie von Otter in the '90s.
Many of Nilsson's compositions over the past 20 years have been for film, and his music features in over 30 TV and film productions. He has commercially released several albums, and his collection of film music is, to date, the most successful collection of its kind in Sweden. In 1998 Nilsson was honoured with a Guldbagge award "For music that enriches both epic and comedy."
