Prologue

My heart throbs with a fresh start of love
There is a person who has shaken me and my life all at once.
Just a thought of that person makes me smile.
A phone ring makes my heart flutter
Love has come to me
Has this ever occurred to you?

About Movie

Stories about the Most Beautiful Love Affairs in Their Lives

All for Love is a romantic comedy which portrays the most beautiful period in the lives of different couples who have just fallen in love. What differentiates All for Love from other romantic comedies is that the movie weaves stories about different kinds of love into a single storyline in a seamless manner. Breaking away with the omnibus style movies which simply arrange several disparate stories based on a single subject, Director Min Kyudong interweaves stories of different couples into one encompassing frame in a fresh and original manner. The 7-day story about people in love will bring the audience laughter.

Delightful and Touching Film Produced by the Great Team

The great cast brought together for All for Love includes Eom Jeonghwa (Singles and Crazy Marriage), Im Changjeong (Sex is Zero and Great Expectations), Kim Sooro (Fun Movie and Super Family) and Hwang Jeongmin (A Good Lawyer's Wife and A Bittersweet Life). Joining these brilliant actors are an esteemed group of talents, including Ju Hyun, Oh Mihee, Cheon Hojin, Jeong Kyungho (Sorrow and Love), Yoon Jinseo (Old Boy), and Seo Younghee (Mapado: All About Hemp & Widows). The excellent performances by these actors/actresses skillfully weave together a spectacular number of love affairs into one amazing story, thus upgrading the attraction of the film.

The Most Beautiful 'Scenario' in My Life

A Fresh Approach to Love!

Director Min Kyudong's New Experiment with Narrative Structure!

All for Love has opened a new horizon with a new style of scenario, which clearly differentiates the film from other omnibus-style romantic comedies. Love affairs of seven couples are intricately interwoven into the storyline, which gives it a rich texture. Unlike the omnibus-style movies which simply sequence separate stories based on a single theme, All for Love represents the first ever attempt to situate all the characters in an interrelationship either directly or indirectly. Such originality of scenario has played an important role in casting the actors and actresses. Such celebrated actors and actresses in this production as Eom Jeonghwa, Im Changjeong, Kim Suroo, and Hwang Jeongmin closed a contract with the movie as soon as they were offered the scenario.

The Most Beautiful 'This is My Treat Parade' in My Life

Today I treat!

Even though a shooting schedule sets us apart, it can't harm our friendship!

The film embraces no fewer than 7 couples plus the other cast, which makes their individual shooting schedules inevitably vary. The sheer number of actors/actresses and the staff members made it difficult for them to get together. To overcome such an obstacle and build strong bonds among themselves, the actors/actresses arranged several occasions where they took turns treating one another. Such efforts bore fruit, as the production team was able to get impressively natural scenes, which otherwise might have been quite uncomfortable for the actors. For example, the leading actor and actress Hwang Jeongmin and Eom Jeongwha (they are the same age, which served as another contributing factor for their friendship) became so close even before the filming that they could perform the bed scenes on the very first day of the shooting in a pleasant atmosphere. The whole crew burst into laughter when Hwang Jeongmin, with a strong southern accent, dropped ad-lib lines "I'm just pulling down your skirt, cause I can see your panties" while shooting the scenes following those of their love-making.

The Most Beautiful(?) Costume in My Life

We are not stopped by either heat wave or cold wave!

As All for Love deals with love affairs in their first seven days, the actors and actress did not have the luxury of changing their clothes according to season. Throughout the film shooting which lasted April 4 to August 15, the cast had to stick with their fall costumes even in chilly early Spring and in swelteringly hot Summer. So, their costume list inevitably came to include ice packs for hot weather and hot packs for cold weather. The staff and even spectators looked pitifully at the actors. They, however, did not care, and performed their acting in such a professional manner that they elicited admiring whispers from people around them. As for another episode related to the costume, Eom Jeonghwa, who shot the 'motel scenes' wearing a Louis Vuitton blouse which was the only item available in Korea, had no choice but to wear its imitation while shooting 'the snack stall scenes' where she had to have soy sauce smeared on the blouse.

The Most Beautiful Cameo in My Life

Leading actor Hwang Jeongmin in a cameo?

Another fun point for you to watch!

The leading actor appears as a cameo in the movie. There is a scene where Heo Yoojeong (Eom Jeonghwa) and Detective Nah (Hwang Jeongmin) go to a movie theater on a date, and the movie they see is Hwang Jeongmin's previous work A Bittersweet Life. In addition to that, Ha Jiwon, one of Korea's leading actresses, agreed to appear as a cameo in spite of her busy schedule. Such a friendly gesture was another sign of friendship built between Ha and Doosabu Film, initiated by her participation in Doosabu's earlier production Sex is Zero. Ha plays the role of a cheerleader who was Seongwon's first love. Counting how many times she appears in the movie will give the audience another fun point to enjoy it. The movie received another big boost when Lee Seyong, who exhibited an impressive flair by performing the role of the precocious elementary school student in Lovely Rivals, appeared as a cameo as well.

The Most Beautiful 'Setting' in My Life

Settings which match people

People in love and their own hideouts

All for Love involves a variety of characters of different ages and occupations, and so the settings need to be differentiated accordingly. This requirement kept the art team on the run making or renting the settings. The house of Yoojeong (Eom Jeonghwa) with its intensely red sofa and other eye-catching items is in fact a suite room of a hotel in the city of Suwon. The good old single-screen movie theater (with its traditional hand-painted film advertisement board), was created on the rooftop of Hollywood Movie Theater in downtown Seoul. Those cute items in the house of the newlywed couple Changhoo (Im Changjeong) and Sunae (Seo Younghee) and the charmingly decorated room in the children's hospital were the outcome of the art team's unsparing efforts. The staff members did not forget to take pictures of themselves against the backdrop of such beautiful settings and felt sorry when they had to be removed.

Min Kyudong / Director

Director Min Kyudong was educated in the esteemed Korean Academy of Film Arts. Starting with short movies, he made a big break by entering to the Pusan International Film Festival his 1997 film Free to Fly, a movie which portrays the daily life of adolescents in a shockingly realistic manner. After directing another short movie, Pale Blue Dot (1998), he made a successful debut as a full-length film director with Ghost Voice 2. With the movie, he captured different kinds of stories among characters within the framework of 'Net Generation'-style networking narrative. His refreshingly original approach to the storyline was greeted with acclaim by movie critics. Min finished his extended break with his comeback as a director of All for Love, and he skillfully interweaves many different kinds of love into one single story.

Director's Note

The week in front of us is the first week of our life, and at the same time it is the week that people who died last week longed for so desperately. This movie tells stories about beautiful and different moments we experience within the short period of one week. To me, beauty is something like a special inspiration which you experience after a long, terrible fever. The characters in the movie are ordinary people with different ways of life. After a lot of twists and turns happening over the week, they smile a happy smile and say, "Back to normal!" At the very moment, we also hope that things will only get better next week.

Oh Seunghwan/ Director of Photography

Oh studied at the esteemed Polish National Film, Television and Theater School. With All for Love, he focused on color as a primary means of portraying various emotions people experience in life. For example, he tried to covey the feeling of obstinacy by accentuating the black/white contrast with the house of Mr. Cho (Cheon Hojin) and the feeling of liveliness by employing vivid colors with Yoojeong (Eom Jeonghwa) and Detective Nah (Hwang Jeongmin). The method of using different colors with each couple and the technique of subduing their overall chroma further enhances the originality of the movie.
