故事大綱
全片用DV拍攝，成本極低卻無損影像的懾人氣勢。《華氏911》一腳踢爆喬治布殊政府的醜陋行徑，《迷失天使城》則探討美國小市民的心聲。故事講述911事件發生後，一名潦倒的退伍軍人被勾起越戰時的可怕回憶，恰巧在非洲留學近十年的姪女回到美國洛杉磯(意譯天使城)，對滿口「自由」、「正義」的政治氣氛感到不是味兒。一天，某個中東男子被人槍殺，目睹案發的軍人與姪女，遂抱著不同原因展開追查… 混合了警匪、動作、戰爭等荷里活式風格，加上雲溫達斯擅長的公路電影為主軸，除了對美國人的荒唐肆意嘲諷，導演更特意用上大量搖滾樂﹕David Bowie、Leonard Cohen、Travis等等，都是樂迷熟悉的名字；繼《樂滿夏灣拿》之後，最令觀眾聽出耳油的電影。
與雲溫達斯面對面
在《迷失天使城》裡，你想探討的是「美國」？還是「美國人民」？
我很喜愛美國，喜愛他們過去的堅定意志。所以無論從哪個角度來看，《迷失天使城》都不是一部「反美電影」，它說是的一種黑白不分、痛苦、驚慌的複雜感情。絕大部份美國人在911之後，都偏向支持自己的國家，這點我很明白。不過隨著時間過去，這種愛國情懷卻漸漸被濫用。從我這個來自歐洲的異鄉客眼中，看到真正價值被扭曲，看到「自由、解放、民主」等字眼在國內泛濫，最後變得虛偽，令人反胃。
美國人被誤導了，以為自己身處戰爭之中；但現實是﹕國家與恐怖組織之間根本無可能發生戰爭。所謂的「宣戰」、「聖戰」，不過是恐怖主義者的戲法，他們樂於見到全球最強大的國家認真看待他們。結果是，美國人真的相信戰爭爆發了。我相信，歷史將來會為這個荒謬的情況作一個定案。
要探討美國… 為甚麼不乾脆拍一部紀錄片，就像《華氏911》？
我從來沒有掩飾自己對美國的鍾情，喜歡它的價值觀。我只不過想在美國拍一部反映時代的作品，去帶出所有自己關心的主題。儘管曾有個「要拍紀錄片」的念頭，最後還是放棄了，因為用虛構故事去處理更為適合，我這樣認為，通過兩個截然不同的角色，可以表達出心裡複雜的感受。若果拍成紀錄片的話，或多或少會觸及甚麼政治的「宣言」、宗教的「宣言」，我不想這樣。我希望影片觸及的主題，會在感情的層次上呈現出來，成為兩位主角的經歷及生活`內容。
那麼兩位主角 --- 保羅及蘭娜 --- 分別代表些甚麼？
保羅是越戰退伍軍人，常常認為自己肩負保護國家安全的重任。沒有人給他下命令，只是自己對自己發施號令，不惜展開千里追尋之旅…. 保羅對國家的承擔，確實有好些宗教色彩。另一方面，二十歲的蘭娜在非洲長大，之後去到巴勒斯坦生活幾年，雖然擁有強烈堅定的宗教信仰，但她對國家卻沒有甚麼「使命感」可言。政治上，兩人可謂南轅北轍﹕保羅立場明顯地右傾，蘭娜則在思想開放的環境長大。我想將他們兩個互相衝擊，亦想他們學會互相尊重。當我撰寫劇本時，發現自己有點像蘭娜﹕她沒有去說服固執的舅父，她只是向他展示自己的生活，以及自己抱持的生活態度。若果她選擇爭辯的話，效果可能會適得其反；偏偏這個方法，令兩人可以互相靠近。
焦點導演﹕雲溫達斯Wim Wenders
1945年德國杜爾多夫出生，原本在費堡大學修讀醫學與哲學，兩年後轉到慕尼黑電影學院，並不斷為雜誌撰寫影評。1975年成立公路電影公司(Road Movies)，憑《大路雙王》及《德州巴黎》打出名堂。1993年返回德國慕尼黑教書，1999年電影《樂滿夏灣拿》更令雲溫達斯名利雙收，進一步奠定其大師級地位。他亦是現任歐洲電影學會主席，主要作品包括﹕

Paul Jeffries lives for one single cause; the protection of America.
Lana does what she likes best; helping people.
Following the devastating outrage of 9/11, Paul and the rest of the intelligence community live in a state of high alert, forever on the lookout for potential threats to the cherished American dream. He works a surveillance beat in Los Angeles, living and working out of a van, tirelessly examine the community around him for clues and evidence of terrorist activity.
This supreme dedication to his duty has cost Pail greatly; he has no home life, he has poor health and his only friend is his colleague Jimmy. However, Paul stands firm; he is steadfast and determined, his are colours that do not run…
Lana has just arrived in Los Angeles. She's an American returning from a lengthy stay in Palestine where she worked hard for liberal causes. A beautiful girl in her early twenties, Lana has come back to her homeland in search of her uncle Paul, her last remaining family. She is met at the airport by Henry, an old friend, now working for a charity caring for the poor and homeless and immediately she helps him out at a shelter for down-and-outs.
Paul is difficult to track down but Lana persists. When they do talk, he doesn't know how to handle this unexpected addition to his life. A murder outside of the shelter, however, brings the two of them together. For Paul, it is a potential lead into his investigation of an Arab family who he suspects are making dirty bombs. For Lana, it is a chance to discover her uncle. The two of them take to the road in Paul's van.
Theirs is a touching journey of discovery in modern day America; a place where paranoia and fear are rampant and nothing is what it seems…
