HOUSE OF FURY

About the Film
After paying tribute to the Hong Kong gangster films of the 80s in Enter the Phoenix, actor/director Stephen Fung continues to travel down nostalgia lane, this time bathing in the warmth of kung fu films of the Bruce Lee era and, more recently, those of Jackie Chan. Through his exploration of a modern single-parent family skilled in the martial arts, Stephen the Gen-Xer, with the bright eyes of a young true believer, refreshes a genre that has shaped the psyche of more than one generation.

Joining Stephen on screen are two-time Hong Kong Best Actor Award winner Anthony Wong, New Police Story's Daniel Wu who founded a Wushu club and was a keen participant in U.S. inter-collegiate competitions, and the fast-rising new martial arts princess Gillian Chung, who gave compelling performances in The Twins Effect and The Huadu Chronicles - Blade of the Rose.

With full support from his producer Jackie Chan, Stephen has secured the services of top Hollywood action choreographer Yuen Wo Ping, of Matrix and Kill Bill fame, as his martial arts advisor. Legendary martial arts actor-director Wu Ma, best known for his performance in A Chinese Ghost Story, also makes a special appearance.

About the Cast
Anthony Wong
With over 160 films spanning a 20-year career, Anthony Wong has won the Best Actor Award twice in Hong Kong, for his chilling performance in The Untold Story and his scene-stealing charisma in Beast Cops. After consecutive roles playing wise old men in Princess D, The Twins Effect and the Infernal Affairs trilogy, Anthony's decade-long image of a cynical sociopath has gradually given way to that of a father figure. Recently, he was the first graduate to become an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

Gillian Chung
Former model turned Canto pop superstar, Gillian Chung is one half of the Twins combo that has taken Hong Kong's teen idol scene by storm. The Twins had appeared together in several films tailor-made for them, including Summer Breeze of Love, Just One Look and Protˆmgˆm de la Rose Noire, but it was the huge success of The Twins Effect that launched the combo into the realms of silver screen stardom. Revelling in her breathtaking martial arts performances, Gillian is rapidly establishing a reputation as a young action star with a bright future.

Daniel Wu
A native of San Francisco, Daniel Wu abandoned a budding career in architecture and turned to films. It is a move he has never regretted as he is now one of the most sought after actors of his generation. His impressive performances in Bishonen, City of Glass and Gen-X Cops quickly elevated him to leading man in Teddy Chen's critically acclaimed Purple Storm. Since then, Daniel had tackled a series of varied and challenging roles in Beijing Rocks, Princess D, One Nite in Mongkok and New Police Story. Recently, he also served as producer on the independent feature Night Corridor.

Charlene Choi
The other half of Twins, Charlene Choi made her film debut in one of the three segments of the omnibus film Heroes in Love. Since then, she has been prolific and versatile in pursuing her promising film career. Whether in the romantic tragedy Funeral March or the romantic comedy My Wife is 18, or even the teenage drama Diva: Ah Hey or the sex comedy Good Times, Bed Times, Charlene has never failed to surprise and to impress.

About the Director

Stephen Fung
Actor-turned-director Stephen Fung studied graphic design at the University of Michigan. He made his acting debut as a child in the Warner Bros TV film Forbidden Nights. As an adult, he enjoyed a musical career as a member of the Canto pop duo Dry and starred in films as diverse as art-house dramas The Poet and Bishonen, action comedies Sunshine Cops and My Schoolmate, the Barbarian, and sci-fi thrillers Avenging Fist and 2002. He is best known internationally for his starring roles in the action hit Gen-X Cops and its sequel Gen-Y Cops. After directing My Beloved, a segment in the EMG-produced omnibus film Heroes in Love, Stephen made his feature-length directing debut with Enter the Phoenix, for which he also co-wrote the script. House of Fury is his second feature. A keen amateur magician, he has also directed a documentary on the art of conjuring.

About the Production Company

JCE Movies Limited is a production company that brings together the talents and resources of Jackie Chan's JC Group and Hong Kong entrepreneur Albert Yeung.

Jackie Chan's JC Group benefits from the guidance of its chairman, Jackie Chan, now a true superstar of world cinema. The company manages and coordinates Jackie's diverse business interests. His partners in JC Group, Willie Chan and Solon So, have been long-time producers and associates in many of Jackie's biggest hits. The trio bring to JCE a wealth of experience and a commitment to nurturing new directing talents.

After the commercial and critical successes of Jackie Chan's New Police Story and Stephen Fung's Enter the Phoenix, JCE's slate for 2005 is even more ambitious in quality and quantity, including Jackie Chan's The Myth, directed by Stanley Tong, and Stephen Fung's House of Fury.

SYNOPSIS

On the surface, Teddy Yu (Anthony Wong) is a Chinese chiropractor and a widowed father. His son Nicky (Stephen Fung), a dolphin trainer at Ocean Park and daughter Natalie (Gillian Chung), a high school student, learn the art of kung fu from him, but are unconvinced and sceptical of their father's claim to having a hidden life as a heroic bodyguard for retired secret agents. It is obvious that the family will not stay harmonious for long as the children become increasingly tired of their father's bragging.

Then one day, Rocco (Michael Wong) arrives in his wheelchair, asking Teddy for information on an ex-agent code-named Dragon. Knowing that Dragon foiled Rocco's mission 12 years ago, an incident that left Rocco wheelchair-bound for life, Teddy's lips are sealed. Rocco leaves in silence but soon returns with his four henchmen. Teddy puts up a valiant fight but, outnumbered, he is finally captured and taken away. Tortured and drugged, Teddy reveals that data on the retired agents is hidden in his kids' lucky charms.

Rocco's men are immediately dispatched to Natalie's school but they are no match for the team of battling siblings. Unable to get what he wants by force, Rocco reverts to Plan B and threatens to kill Teddy unless the kids can find Dragon for him.

With the help of boy friend Jason (Daniel Wu) and goofy schoolmate May (Charlene Choi), Natalie finally finds the clue to her father's disappearance and unearths the secret data files hidden in the lucky charms. It is then that she and Nicky realise Dragon is none other than their father's long-time friend Tide (Wu Ma). The people in those thrilling spy stories they grew up hearing from their father finally have recognizable faces. Their father is telling the truth after all! Just when they are planning to pay Tide a visit to enlist his help, Jason locks them up and confronts Tide on his own. Jason's motive becomes the new mystery that Nicky and Natalie have to solve before they can save their father. But time is rapidly running out!
