故 事 大 綱
"PTU" 是 杜 琪 峯 繼 < 鎗 火 > 後 最 具 個 人 風 格 之 電 影 。
一 個 夜 晚 的 開 始 ， 也 是 一 個 故 事 的 序 幕 。
PTU 警 官 展 ( 任 達 華 ) 與 Kat ( 邵 美 琪 ) 率 領 隊 員 在 尖 沙 咀 進 行 反 黑 巡 邏 ， 他 們 發 現 沙 展 肥 沙 ( 林 雪 ) 在 餐 廳 外 受 襲 ， 失 去 警 槍 。 展 受 肥 沙 所 託 ， 於 天 亮 前 把 配 槍 找 回 ， 卻 引 起 PTU 隊 員 意 見 分 岐 。 CID 幫 辦 Madam 張 ( 黃 卓 玲 ) 接 手 江 湖 人 物 馬 尾 的 謀 殺 案 ， 懷 疑 肥 沙 嫌 疑 最 大 。 在 靜 寂 夜 幕 中 ， 人 際 間 內 部 矛 盾 、 針 鋒 相 對 一 一 湧 現 ， 每 組 警 察 人 員 努 力 找 尋 出 路 ， 希 望 在 天 亮 前 來 個 解 決 。 然 而 最 後 一 切 發 生 的 ， 原 來 都 不 能 在 掌 握 之 中 ． ． ． 長 夜 漫 漫 ， 何 去 何 從 ?

The beginning of a long and suspenseful evening.
A PTU (Police Tactical Unit) Company, made up of 2 teams led by Officer MIKE and KAT respectively, begins its anti-crime patrol through the harbor area. The news of a policeman shot dead reminds everyone they should carry out their duty with caution.
PONYTAIL, son of notorious gangster boss BALD HEAD, and his punk friends have an unfriendly run-in with jaded police sergeant LO at a restaurant. The punks decide to teach Lo a lesson. Lo is knocked out during the scuffle and loses his gun. Meanwhile, Ponytail is stabbed to death by an assassin in the restaurant.
The PTU Company is dispatched to check on Lo. Quarrels ensue when Kat insists to report to HQ about Lo's missing gun. But Mike decides to give Lo until dawn to find his gun back. Lo is sure that the punks are responsible for this. Kat, in disagreement with Mike, resumes patrolling through the harbor area.
Mike approaches gangsters and crooks in the area for information on the punks' whereabouts. He is willing to use violence if necessary to get what he wants; and it's obvious no one dares to challenge him. Soon Mike discovers the punks are hiding in an abandoned building. He and his team decide to pay them a visit.
Lo needs a substitute gun before his colleagues find out what had happened. He buys a toy gun from a hobby store and paints it black. Hopefully no one will notice.
INSPECTOR LEIGH from CID (Criminal Investigation Dept.) is in charge of investigating Ponytail's death. Lo's suspicious behavior makes him a likely suspect on Leigh's list.
EYE BALL, Bald Head's archrival who's scared for his life after Ponytail's death, asks Lo for police protection. But Bald Head also approaches Lo telling him to lure Big Eye out of hiding so he can kill him himself.
It turns out Bald Head already has the punks under captivity. Bald Head promises Lo to give his gun back if he does this favor for him. The sergeant doesn't have a choice and asks Eye Ball to meet him at Canton Rd. at 4 AM.
2 AM. Lo and Mike meet at a diner. Lo pleads Mike not to patrol through Canton Rd. at 4 because something big will go down there. Kat shows up, but has no intention to take part in the conversation.
Leigh arrives unexpectedly at the diner and questions Lo his involvement in Ponytail's death. Lo flees, and neither Mike nor Kat will cooperate with the Inspector. "Whatever happens to Lo, all of you guys will be held responsible," warns Leigh.
3:57 am. Lo is getting antsy waiting at the dock because he's about to betray Eye Ball. Bald Head is on his way to Canton Rd. to avenge his son's death. Leigh is tailing Bald Head hoping he'll lead her to Lo. Kat's team is onto an illusive car thief. Mike changes his mind the last minute and heads toward Canton Rd. to backup Lo. Meanwhile, a group of strangers appear at the dock waiting for their pick-up…
Where do they go next? The night continues to unfold…
