一 部 備 受 爭 議 的 電 影 ， 由 一 個 聳 人 聽 聞 的 實 驗 開 始 。

二 十 個 人 ， 於 兩 星 期 內 ， 接 受 一 個 以 研 究 人 性 為 名 的 科 學 實 驗 ， 實 驗 完 成 後 ， 每 人 可 獲 二 千 美 金 為 酬 勞 。

這 個 實 驗 以 虛 擬 的 監 獄 為 背 景 ， 目 的 是 研 究 在 這 個 封 閉 的 制 度 空 間 下 ， 人 類 攻 擊 行 為 的 模 式 。 二 十 個 參 予 者 中 ， 八 人 被 選 為 獄 卒 ， 十 二 人 被 定 為 監 犯 。 監 犯 被 鎖 在 獄 裡 ， 絕 對 要 聽 從 獄 卒 的 命 令 。 開 始 時 ， 各 人 像 都 參 予 一 場 遊 戲 般 ， 樂 於 發 號 或 接 受 命 令 ， 沿 著 規 則 進 行 實 驗 ， 但 當 日 子 慢 慢 過 去 ， 原 本 被 視 為 一 場 「 遊 戲 」 的 實 驗 卻 迅 速 變 質 ， 掌 管 制 度 的 人 擁 有 了 權 力 後 發 現 了 掌 管 權 力 的 威 力 與 快 感 ， 被 制 度 欺 壓 的 實 驗 者 ， 卻 發 現 尊 嚴 與 肉 體 同 被 折 磨 與 摧 殘 ， 實 驗 監 獄 內 張 力 一 觸 即 發 ， 兩 幫 人 對 立 引 發 了 流 血 衝 突 ， 施 壓 權 力 與 誓 死 復 仇 之 間 更 導 致 不 可 收 拾 的 恐 怖 後 果 ． ． ．

Introduction

The movie is based on the infamous "Stanford Prison Experiment" conducted in 1971. A makeshift prison is set up in a research lab, complete with cells, bars and surveillance cameras. For two weeks 20 male participants are hired to play prisoners and guards. The 'prisoners' are locked up and have to follow seemingly mild rules, and the 'guards' are told simply to retain order without using physical violence. Everybody is free to quit at any time, thereby forfeiting payment. In the beginning the mood between both groups is insecure and rather emphatic. But soon quarrels arise and the wardens employ ever more drastic sanctions to confirm their authority.

Story

They came looking for a quick way to make easy money. Now, they're just looking for a way to stay alive. "The Experiment" is a non-stop ride of emotion and revenge played against the simulated reality of prison…where the price of a man's life is equal to his ability to survive.

It began as a game in the name of science. Twenty men. Two weeks. The payoff, a breezy $2000. Investigation of aggressive behavior in a simulated prison environment, the "game": Make eight men the "guards" and twelve men the "prisoners." While the prisoners are locked up and ordered to follow rule, the guards are instructed to keep order. But give a man a little power and it makes him do unexpected things. Take away a man's pride and humanity - and it makes him do even worse! As each day passes, power and authority battle rebellion and retribution with increasingly violent results, blurring the lines between what is "real" and what is the "experiment." "The Experiment" will challenge the way you look at the world.
