事 業 成 功 的 女 作 家 訶 ( 斯 琴 高 娃 飾 ) 對 新 書 的 宣 傳 活 動 感 到 應 接 不 暇 … … 讀 者 的 掌 聲 、 鮮 花 以 及 傳 媒 的 閃 燈 令 她 沉 醉 在 事 業 的 成 功 感 中 。
訶 在 踏 上 歸 途 前 去 探 望 八 十 多 歲 的 高 齡 母 親 ， 一 路 上 還 用 電 話 不 停 地 打 點 著 工 作 上 的 安 排 。 當 訶 進 門 時 竟 發 現 母 親 的 視 力 模 糊 ， 更 反 問 她 找 誰 。 從 母 親 種 種 的 表 現 中 發 覺 母 親 衰 老 了 不 少 ， 訶 對 此 感 到 很 震 動 和 意 外 ， 母 親 在 年 老 力 衰 最 需 要 照 顧 的 時 候 ， 自 己 卻 遠 遠 把 母 親 丟 下 了 … …
影 片 通 過 女 作 家 訶 對 自 己 八 十 多 歲 的 母 親 離 世 後 的 經 歷 ， 揭 示 了 現 今 社 會 的 一 種 現 象 - 兒 女 的 生 活 富 足 使 父 母 不 再 擔 憂 衣 食 住 行 ， 但 有 誰 能 耐 心 地 與 父 母 溝 通 ， 當 父 母 真 正 出 現 問 題 時 才 痛 心 地 守 護 在 旁 ， 體 現 遲 來 的 關 心 … … 每 個 人 都 會 為 人 父 母 ， 將 會 面 臨 同 樣 的 問 題 。 電 影 中 希 望 透 過 事 業 成 功 的 女 作 家 在 母 親 離 世 後 所 表 達 的 內 疚 、 自 責 及 後 悔 心 情 ， 喚 起 人 們 心 深 處 的 情 感 ： 如 何 來 對 待 那 些 健 在 的 父 母 ， 如 何 讓 父 母 不 要 帶 著 遺 憾 離 開 這 個 世 界 ， 讓 人 們 不 要 在 父 母 離 去 之 再 感 到 遺 憾 。

Gone is the One Who Held Me Dearest in the World
This movie is based on a genuine story of a female writer in her 50s and her personal experiences of emotions in the extreme manner. The movie demonstrates the degree the writer, as the daughter, misses and tries to recall her beloved mother after she was gone. It reveals the sense of guilt she possesses over the way she treated her mother when she was alive. The movie displays the mutual love as well as conflicts between the heroine of the story and the mother during a 3-month period when was accompanying the aging mother. The movie resets a real picture of family relationship in the on-going Chinese society.
