The Story

On his hunting trip, Emperor Qi(Anita Mui) takes a wrong turn and is confronted by bandit leader/wild beauty Wu Yen(Sammi Cheng). The two are immediately attracted to each other. However, an ugly mole on Wu Yen's face thwarts this match made in heaven. Emperor Qi cancels the wedding for fear of marrying someone ugly.

The mole is the result of a "love spell" put by enchantress Yin Chun(Cecelia Cheung), who is actually an incarnation of a 3000-years old fox with great magical power. Yin Chun has a crush on Wu Yen, and threatens her to either leave Emperor Qi, or live with the ugly mole for the rest of her life. Wu Yen chooses the emperor. Yin Chun knows it'll take more to break up Wu Yen and Qi. With her power, she transforms into a hot stud to seduce Wu Yen, while getting intimate with the emperor as a sexy beauty.

Things seem to go Yin Chun's way. When she shows up at the palace, Qi immediately makes her his empress. But the longer Wu Yen is involved with Wu Yen and Qi, the more she's torn between the two.

Wu Yen arrives at the palace only to find out Yin Chun has stolen her man. Though upset, her affection for Qi remains. She's willing to do anything for him, even if it means leading the army to battle or competing in the "Seven Nation Games". Despite Yin Chun's repeated sabotages, Wu Yen believes everything she does for Qi will change the emperor's mind. Eventually Wu Yen is made Qi's empress, but that's because Qi needs her to fend off invaders.

Qi doesn't treasure what he has until it's too late. When he enters a gambling game with emperors of other nations, he loses his palace, his land, and eventually Wu Yen to them. Seems like everyone except Qi knows how special Wu Yen is. This is where Wu Yen draws the line. She divorces the emperor and leaves the palace disappointedly. The mole on her face vanishes¡K

Homeless and broke, Qi finally comes to realization how much he misses Wu Yen. Without any precious stone or money to impress the girl, he nonetheless sets out to her holdout as other emperor fight for Wu Yen's heart. Just when Emperor Qi's touching words are beginning to have an effect on Wu Yen, Yin Chun suddenly appears, trying to keep the couple from reuniting¡K
