想 不 到 一 個 決 定 ， 險 些 改 變 了 一 生 的 命 運 … …

追 求 愛 情 的 年 輕 母 親 泰 娜 帶 著 九 歲 的 兒 子 雅 狄 昂 和 八 十 五 元 ， 從 家 鄉 莫 斯 科 來 到 陌 生 的 英 倫 ， 目 的 便 是 與 在 莫 斯 科 邂 逅 的 英 國 男 人 結 婚 ， 夢 想 從 此 可 以 擁 有 幸 福 快 樂 的 生 活 。 奈 何 天 意 弄 人 ， 機 場 一 直 也 沒 有 情 人 的 蹤 影 ， 換 來 的 只 是 一 個 冷 冷 的 電 話 錄 音 和 入 境 官 員 的 無 情 查 問 。

泰 娜 不 甘 心 ， 加 上 身 上 的 金 錢 不 多 ， 面 對 被 遣 返 莫 斯 科 的 命 運 ， 於 是 她 申 請 政 治 庇 護 ─ 這 是 她 唯 一 可 以 留 在 英 倫 的 方 法 。 和 其 他 難 民 一 樣 ， 泰 娜 母 子 在 警 方 的 監 管 下 來 到 這 個 「 石 頭 天 堂 」 。 正 如 其 名 ， 這 是 一 處 人 煙 罕 至 、 與 世 隔 絕 的 監 獄 小 島 ， 除 了 石 頭 ， 荒 涼 的 四 周 充 斥 著 絕 望 的 氣 氛 ， 猶 如 她 兩 母 子 今 後 命 運 的 寫 照 。

Tanya, young and naive, leaves Moscow with her streetwise 10-year-old son Artiom, to meet her English fiance. But after he fails to turn up at the airport, Tanya and her son find themselves virtually imprisoned in a deserted seaside resort where all refugees are forced to live.

They have no passports, no money, and no rights. Desperate to escape a nightmarish world of misfits and no-hopers, Tanya forges an unusual alliance with amusement arcade manager Alfie, an alliance that soon develops into something more. But is he just another man who will let her down, or will Tanya and Artiom finally escape?

About the Director - Paul Pawlikowski

Paul born in Warsaw in 1957, he lives and works in UK since 1977. Started from 1987, he had won a number of rewards in various national and international festivals. Besides being as a director, he also takes the role as a screenwriter. <Last Resort> offers him an opportunity to bring out the screen a very distinctive, personal vision, approaching drama in a new way. The result is a riveting combination of cinematic and documentary styles. This is the unique style of the Director.
